When you find yourself doing the very thing you chose to move forward from.
Pause.
That very thing that always costs you your sense of purity in exchange for short term pleasure.
Pause.
Pleasure that has you questioning your strength and self-worth.
Pause.
Pleasure that you know is displeasing to God.
Pause.
Pleasure that is always derived from a place of weakness, momentary weakness of the flesh.
Pause.
Pleasure that leaves a stain of shame.
Pause.
Pleasure that has maneuvered its way into a cycle. That cycle of always having to constantly get back up. Get back on the wagon! That cycle of having to repent and forgive. Whether it’s gluttony, the forni stuff or other means of self gratification instead of God glorification. You know it goes against the path. The o so very narrow path.
Pause.
When you examine the outcome of this pleasurable moment, God was dishonored. It made you somehow unclean. A microwaved-type of pleasure, the outside seems warm but the inside remains cold. All because of impatience. Impatience to wait. What a tradeoff! A cheap version of pleasure in comparison to the treasures of God.
So pause when you find yourself doing the very thing you chose to move forward from.
